Manuel Michel joined the Colombia Avocado Board (CAB) in July 2023 as the Managing Director where he is responsible for developing and overseeing strategic goals, plans, and program initiatives that promote higher awareness and consumption of Colombian Avocados in the United States.
Manuel has an agricultural background and has worked on issues that affect the produce industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining CAB, Manuel was the executive director for the National Mango Board for 9 years. He has also provided regulatory oversight to multiple federal government commodity programs for USDA’s Marketing Order and Agreement Division. Additionally, Manuel has experience in quality assurance and food safety gained in California and has also worked as a managing associate attorney in Texas.
Manuel earned his two undergraduate degrees from Oregon State University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University.
